It is known that music can affect people in different ways: make sad, happy, mad, etc… But the question is if music can affect people the way drugs do?
This question may seem ridiculous. However, there are Web sites containing special audio files, and the only thing your child needs to access “digital drugs” is a computer with Internet access and headphones.
There are several slang terms to describe these sounds, i.g., “idozers” and “idosers’. These sounds have a similar to narcotic effect due to so-called binaural rhythms. Binaural rhythms can not be called music in its general sense. These are ambient sounds, produced in such a way in order to influence the work of the brain.
For perception these rhythms one needs to use headphones. Each ear perceives different sounds. They make up the desired combination for the brain, resulting in the form of the correct frequency. This one corresponds to the frequency of brain waves. These frequencies correspond to different moods of a person, i.e., peace or vice versa alarm.
Presumably, digital drugs synchronize your brain waves with the sound. There are such rhythms, which help to get rid of bad habits and even to lose weight. However, the bulk of Internet sites offering binaural rhythms is composed of resources that supply users with audio files, the effect of which is akin to alcoholic and drug fervor. The most common are files that lead the listener into a state that is close to the effect of smoking marijuana. But it is not difficult to find such sounds that produce the effect of LSD, heroin and even crack, as well!
Many people are quite skeptic about the effect of idosers. Not too many scientific studies have been dedicated to binaural rhythms so far. However, some of their results insist that this phenomenon may have an impact on motor functions and the mood. There are no basic evidences to that, but still , the person’s addition to this phenomenon indicates his readiness to move to real drugs.
Over the net, you can read a lot of user’s opinions describing the effect of the digital drugs. They are sure idosers have a certain impact on people.
Companies that sell digital drugs use the opposite arguments pro and contra. They say that idosers have a strong impact. Some types of these drugs are recommended to be used by only the “advanced users”. They also admit that some users may be immune to binaural rhythms, and that the effect is achieved only in the right situation.
At the same time, digital drugs sellers say that their product is harmless, and he can not have devastating effects on the human psyche.
What conclusion can be drawn out of all abovementioned? If binaural rhythms indeed possess all the properties attributed to them, it is clear they are dangerous. In addition, they simply may have the “placebo” effect - this is, again, not safe. But we can only guess what time will it take to prove its danger as their sales bring giant revenues to internet companies.
