New Sony e- Readers Expected to Hit the Market Soon19th August 2010
As Amazon, Barnes, Noble have announced the new e-readers, Sony is not left behind and there are news from the Sony internal trusted sources that Sony will announce two new e-readers, the PSR-350 and PSR-650. According to the further details, provided by the Sony internal news sources, the new e-readers will both be e-ink-touch-screen models, with a very slim design (10mm), expanded internal memory (2GB), user- interface tweaks and competitive pricing. Moreover, the PRS-350 will be a 5-inch model, with no wireless connectivity and the 6-inch will have at least feature Wi-Fi and possibly a 3G.
It is estimated that these would be touch screen models and Sony would fix the contrast and glare issues, which were reported earlier in the PSR-600's. So, it is yet to see that will these e-readers will have displays with improved readability or not.
It is said about these e-readers that atleast in US the price of the readers will determine how successful they would be. With its counterpart, Amazon Wi-Fi only kindle at $139 and Barnes & Noble Wi-Fi only at $ 149, it is expected that the Sony's 5 inch model will be priced in that range and will try to gain a competitive advantage with its design.
