Panda Security: nearly 88% of July-mail is spam
17th August 2007
According to the data, which were obtained through the controlled server of mail security TrustLayer Mail, 87.54% of the total number of e-mail received during July is spam.
Panda Security specialists note that this figure once again confirms the trend, developing during recent months, that monthly number of spam in e-mail, consists up to 90%. Such a large volume of unwanted mail can have a significant impact on the performance of different companies because they have to waste time on reading and deleting such messages. Furthermore, these messages consume large number of corporate IT resources: lower channel capacity, took place on the disk and the slaughter mailboxes.
Anxiety of Panda Security specialists is also cause by the fact, that worms are the most common malware occurring in unwanted mail. The most commonly found threat in the past months has been Netsky.P worm. Sometimes it included almost half of the total amount of malicious code found in spam.
