Parallax Augmented Desktop: original three-dimensional interface
13th August 2008
A curious version of three-dimensional user interface has been proposed by the University of Tokyo.
The development named Parallax Augmented Desktop is a virtual three-dimensional “box”, located on the other side of the display. Each of walls of the box is a separate desktop, which can be added with icons, windows and applications.
The program also has an original interface that does not need the mouse to move the cursor. For moving to a new window the user only has to turn his head or his look in the needed direction. For the definition of the current situation and directions of the head there is an inexpensive web-camera, set on the monitor.
