Probing Of Tobacco Firms Through YouTube
31st August 2010
According to a recent study, it is being expected that the tobacco industry might have been making use of YouTube, in order to get around a ban on the advertisements of cigarettes. According to a study conducted by the researchers of New Zealand, the tobacco companies have been making use of video sharing websites, in order to promote their products. They have said that it is very important that the government bodies should take notice and put ban on such activities.
The researchers have also written that advertisement through the platform of World Wide Web has been providing the tobacco companies a chance of promoting their products, without getting noticed by the regulatory authorities, which has put ban on the advertisement of tobacco products.
The research manager at anti-smoking group, which is known as Action on Smoking and Heath (Ash), Amanda Sandford has said that the finding of this recent study have been found really disturbing, but have thrown light on the usual and typical activities of tobacco industry. She also said that when one avenue for promotion of products is closed to an industry, then soon after the industry starts to look for various other avenues through which they can start off with their advertising campaigns.
