Rootkit Detective 1.0: free program for protection against rootkits

The company McAfee has released a new program Rootkit Detective intended for protection against dangerous rootkits attacks. Like SiteAdvisor, which is designed to identify potentially dangerous sites containing advertising or espionage modules, this tool is free.
Rootkits are those programs used for hiding the processes of malicious code, which makes it difficult to detect them by anti-virus software. Rootkits modify some parts of the OS or install themselves as drivers, core modules, registry records and therefore are especially dangerous. Rootkit Detective scans PC for rootkits and, if finds any, removes them and sends McAfee a report on the attack. By means of this free program you can test the integrity of memory and monitor any changes in it.
