Computer games increase the pupils progress
30th September 2008
Organization of Learning and Teaching Scotland, (LTS) in charge of curriculum in scottish schools, has conducted an analysis of the impact of developing computer games on students` results in school, reports BBC News.
The study has covered more than 600 pupils from 32 Scottish schools who were invited to play every day in the computer game Brain Training, developed by a Japanese neurobiology. This time LTS together with the representatives of the university and Her Majesty`s Inspectorate of Education checked the validity of the last year's experiment results in changing circumstances.
The group of students performed various tasks in the game during the first 20 minutes of lesson each day for 9 weeks. Classes in the control group were held in a more traditional way. Students were tested before the experiment and after it. As a result, it turned out that results of students in the experimental group by 50% exceed results of the control group.
The study also showed that less gifted children reached better results than excellent pupils.
The experiment results are the first independent evidence that the use of developing computer games positively affect the schoolchildren progress.
