Dead Space`s engine will compete with Unreal Engine 3

The team working on Dead Space, believes that their new engine can become a worthy competitor to Unreal Engine and id Tech at the cross-platform software market. Glen Schofield, an executive producer of the project, talked about it in his interview to Gameplayer. This engine, namely, its previous version was used in such games as The Godfather and From Russia with Love.
So far it is unclear whether the studio is going to use this technology only for internal developments of EA or make it a commercial product, such as Unreal Engine 3. Today the soft basis of Dead Space has already become the foundation for the computer game Godfather 2.
