KateOS 3.6: new version of the Polish open-source distribution kit

After more than nine months of developing, the final version of the Polish open-source distribution kit KateOS 3.6 has been released. It's based on Slackware Linux, with its main objective being to provide a simplified set of software, including the most popular open software. Among the improvements and innovations of KateOS 3.6 the following items are declared:
"sleep" mode of the operating system;
GUI installer included in the LIVE edition;
updated tool of check for updates;
available new scripts of autoload available as a service commands;
improved support of HP printers;
internationalization of the whole system;
graphical tool for network configuration;
installer CORE greatly simplifies the installation of the system;
New programs, such as Audacious and Pidgin.
The developers also traced a number of bugs and updated all included in the distribution kit applications. To simplify work with KateOS 3.6, the developers shared the distribution kit into several levels: Miniiso and CORE, which, depending on the user's level of knowledge will help in dealing with KateOS. The most important updated components of the distribution kit are the following:
Linux kernel 2.6.21.4;
Glibc 2.5;
Xorg 7.2;
KDE 3.5.7;
Xfce 4.4.1;
Gnome 2.18.2;
OpenOffice.org 2.2.
Depending on the selected edition, the size of the program makes up a little more than 2 GB
