Microsoft described the corrections in Vista SP1

By the end of the month Microsoft, finally, shared virtually interesting to users information about the upcoming release of Vista SP1. After information on the date of the release (first quarter of 2008), the software giant has published a full list of fixes and innovations of the coming up update of Vista.
Security improvements :
Providing security solutions of safer interaction with Windows Security Center;
including program interfaces (API), through which third-party anti-virus programs can work with core protection against patches in version Vista x64. Thus, independent developers will be able to enhance the functionality of the core and improve its work without disabling Path Guard;
improved security of the remote work with applications RemoteApp by permitting the use of digital signature of files of protocol Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP).
list of Pseudorandom Number Generators in Vista was added with encryption in elliptic lines;
built-in encryption tool Enhances BitLocker Drive Encryption offers a new method of multivariate authenticity. It combines the module Trusted Platform Module (TPM), a separate storage of key for launching on a USB device and the user-generated PIN.

Improved reliability:
improved reliability and compatibility of Vista when using new videocards in certain scenarios and configurations;
improved reliability when using with external monitors for laptops;
improved reliability of Vista in some network settings;
improved reliability of the systems, updated from Windows XP to Vista;
improved compatibility with a wide range of drivers for printers;
increased reliability and performance of Vista, when going into the sleep mode and when escaping it.

Performance improvements:
increased speed files copying and extraction;
reduced time of switching between the modes of Hibernate and Resume;
improved work of Windows Internet Explorer 7;
reduced use of processor`s resources;
accelerated executing JavaScript commands;
fixed 10-seconds delay between pressing a combination CTRL + ALT + DEL and displaying the password;
fixed error of slowing down the speed of viewing and downloading files in the internet.

Administrating innovations:
additional encryption features BitLocker Drive Encryption, now besides encrypting disk C you can encrypt other parts of the hard disk;
fixed a number of problems through the local printer in Windows Terminal Services session;
introduced application Network Diagnostics, which will solve the most common problems of opening files for downloading;
administrators can control on which disks defragmentation should be run;
update removes Group Policy Management Console (GPMC), and Group Policy will be returned to the default settings.

Hardware and standards support:
Support of exFAT file system, which will be further used by flash storage devices;
Support of the system Secure Digital (SD) Advanced Direct Memory Access (DMA), which will be soon used on SD host controllers to accelerate the speed of data exchange and reducing the burden on the processor;
x64 EFI support for launching the network;
support of Direct3D 10.1, adding several API and new features for 3D- applications, allowing developers to make better use of the new generation of video cards based on Direct3D;
support of Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol (SSTP), the remote access protocol, which will become a part of the platform Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS).
