Microsoft Network Monitor 3.2: monitoring network traffic
23rd September 2008
Microsoft Corporation has released a new version of its free traffic analyzer Network Monitor 3.2.
The new product allows you to track all active processes generating network traffic, and receive detailed information about these processes. Thus, users can easily detect malicious applications transferring data over the network. The increased performance of mechanisms of intercepting traffic ensures more efficient use of the product in high-speed networks.
Users are also offered an expanded set of parsers for more than three hundred network protocols.
In the next few months, Microsoft is planning to publish the source code for all parsers on the site CodePlex, giving members of the “open-source” community options for their modifications.
Developers are also encouraged to pay attention to Network Monitor API, which will fulfill the functions of intercepting and analyzing traffic in its own applications.
