New version of GNOME 2.24

An updated version of the popular open-source desktop environment GNOME 2.24 has come out.
One of the most significant and expected improvements implemented in GNOME 2.24, is a new multi-protocol Internet-messenger Empathy. This product, intended to be included in the previous version of GNOME 2.22, offers support of multimedia chats and boasts close integration with the desktop environment. Third-party developers can use Empathy components for implementing communication facilities in their own applications. Besides, GNOME 2.24 users are offered a long-awaited new version of the SIP-client Ekiga 3.0, providing an opportunity of audio and video conferencing.
The list of improvements includes enhanced support of tabs, realized in the file manager Nautilus; a new tool for managing screen resolution and much more. Software developers are also sure to appreciate a new platform GNOME Mobile Development Platform, which will facilitate the creation of new applications for Linux-compatible mobile devices.
GNOME 2.24 is going to be a part of future releases of the popular Linux-distributives Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSUS, etc…
