PSILO: repository for biochemical information
4th September 2008
The Canadian company CCG (Chemical Computing Group) has introduced its new software product entitled PSILO (Protein Silo). PSILO system is a powerful repository for storing opened and closed data on macromolecules of proteins and ligands (biologically active substances in living organisms) with the control of versions and web interface.
With the help of PSILO research organizations can systematize work on the registration, documentation, tracing and distribution of information about the structure of researched macromolecular formations. This information may come both in the form of experimental data or as the results of computer modeling.
PSILO also contains powerful tools for search, analysis and visualization of data related to chemical and biological research. All the work with the system is carried out through the convenient and user-friendly Web interface.
Thanks to strict data systematization and powerful search tools, scientists can automatically receive notice of all opened protein structures, associated with ongoing research. Macromolecular structures are valuable intellectual property for research organizations, and PSILO system helps to keep this property with the utmost accuracy.
