QuickTime 7.5.5: Apple corrects errors
18th September 2008
A new version of QuickTime player has come out, correcting nine errors related to the security system. Many of them can be evaluated as critical because they can allow detractors to attack infected computers and run malicious code under them. The updates relate to both versions for Windows, and Mac OS X.
Quick Time plays files of its own format *.qt, widely represented in the net. Other features of the program include support of 3GPP and 3GPP2, including video, text and audio, compatibility with video codecs MPEG-4 and H.264, support of audio formats MP3, AAC, AMR and QCELP; streaming broadcast protocols HTTP, RTP and RTSP; graphic formats JPEG, BMP, PICT, PNG and GIF.
