Apple patented fast access bar Dock
19th October 2008
Apple finally patented the toolbar Dock for OS X after almost ten years from the date of its introduction.
The patent certificate contains all key features of the "innovative" interface, including icons changing their size when pointed with the cursor, a possibility of arrangement of icons in the necessary order, and also ways of displaying the bar over the desktop and opened applications windows. Separate attention was paid to more fine details, such as selection of started applications, displaying shortcuts pointed with the cursor of the mouse, and also “drag and drop”. The corporation names inventors: Steve Jobs, Bas Ording and Donald Lindsay. As for the ten-year delay, it was not Apple`s fault. The appropriate demand was submitted on December, 20, 1999, however, only the other day it was officially confirmed by the patent bureau of the United States.
