BSDanywhere 4.3: LiveCD with OpenBSD and Enlightenment
31st October 2008
The first final release of the new operating system based on OpenBSD - BSDanywhere 4.3.
The project BSDanywhere started this year: its site and the first public version (Alpha 2) appeared on May, 20, and the first beta release took place on June, 4. BSDanywhere is LiveCD (ie, the system working directly from the CD without the need of installation to your hard drive) and the operating system OpenBSD 4.3 functioning as a basis.
BSDanywhere developers name a few desktop applications as the key software in the system: X-server with a window manager Enlightenment DR17; word processor Abiword; Web-browser Firefox and email client Thunderbird; raster graphics editor Gimp; Audio editor Audacious and documents viewer ePDFView. From the classic UNIX-utilities the following ones were named: nmap, iperf, pftop, trafshow and rsync.
