Final version of OpenOffice 3.0

On October, 13, the final version of the project OpenOffice was presented.
The presentation of OpenOffice 3.0 will be held in Paris within a special event on the occasion of the eighth anniversary of the project. Compared with previous modifications of the product, OpenOffice 3.0 contains numerous innovations. First of all, weâ€™d like to point out that OpenOffice 3.0 is the first version of this Office package to officially support work under computers running under Mac OS X without the use of the X 11 system. The new product supports the standard Open Document Format (ODF) version 1.2, and in addition, the developers ensured compatibility with documents created in Microsoft Office 2007 and Office 2008 for Mac OS X (. Docx,. Xlsx,. Pptx,).
Further improvements concern the Start Center, which now has updated icons and zoom of the status bar. The program for editing spreadsheet Calc now has additional opportunities for joint work while the maximum possible number of columns on one page increased to 1024. Besides, the Writer text editor received an improved system of notes and the ability to display multiple pages for editing. As usual, the developers fixed bugs and vulnerabilities identified since the previous version of the product.
The package OpenOffice 3.0 is available in more than 20 languages under Windows, Mac OS Ð¥, Linux and Solaris.
