First WiMax-supporting laptops

Companies Lenovo, Asus and Acer have become the first to release notebooks supporting the wireless technology WiMax, informs InformationWeek. Also WiMax-laptop was presented by the company Toshiba.
Lenovo offers four laptops from the series ThinkPad, supporting work in the WiMax networks. These are X301, T400, SL300 and SL500. A bit later they will be joint by models ThinkPad W500, W700, SL400, T400 & X200, and also IdeaPad Y530.
Companies Acer and Asus offered two and one models of laptops supporting WiMax, respectively. These are Acer Aspire 6930 & 4930, and Asus M50Vm. Toshiba installed the model for work in the WiMax network in the Satellite U405-ST550W laptop. WiMax module is a part of the mobile platform Intel Centrino 2, presented in the middle of July. It is optimized for work with high definition video and is based on the chip set G45 with integrated graphics.
The demonstration of laptops with the built-in module for work with WiMax network took place a week later after start of the city network WiMax in Baltimore, USA. The network was developed by the company Sprint which plans to release similar projects in several months in Chicago and Washington.
