GIMP 2.4.0: a new version of the raster graphics editor

A new stable version of the popular raster graphics open source editor GIMP 2.4.0 has been released.
Among the key general innovations of GIMP 2.4, compared with releases 2.2 there are: updated appearance (new icons by default), variable-sized brushes, completely rewritten sample utilities, changes to the menu, improved display when changing the displayed scale, support of the file format Photoshop ABR, 16/32- bit images, and Alpha channel in BMP, improvements in the recording / reading EXIF from JPG, maintaining masks of layers in PSD, support of 24-bit icons and the icons of Vista.
In addition, GIMP 2.4 represents significant updates for processing digital photos: full-screen editing, color adjustment, a new utility Crop, improvements in printing, auto-filter of removing red-eye effect, copying perspective, lens distortion.
