In Israeli airports passengers will not have to take off shoes
24th October 2008
Passengers departing from one of the Israeli Airport, will no longer have to take of their shoes to undergo screening. Detecting extraneous metal objects in the shoes of passengers now is concern of the device called MagShoe.
This special scanner within a couple of seconds identifies terrorists attempting to carry on board a knife or details of the detonator. Unfortunately, the equipment can not detect hidden explosives, therefore, airport officials will continue checking carefully suspicious passengers.
The system MagShoe has already been put into operation. The cost of the device produced by the Israeli company Ido Security Ltd is $5000. Perhaps in the near future MagShoe will be installed in U.S. airports as well. U.S. Transportation Security Administration, responsible for the safety of shuttle services in USA, is already negotiating with the manufacturer.
