Internet pirates now under protection

The court overturned the verdict to Jamie Thomas found guilty of copyright infringement. The single mother, using the popular file-exchanger Kazaa, has shared 24 musical works. As a result, she was sentenced to pay $222 thousand to six record companies as compensation.
Recently, the judge Michael Davis agreed to review the case, admitting that he made an error in the lay people instruction, resulting in violating rights of the accused. In addition, Davis turned to senior authorities with a request to mitigate measures against the pirates.
The first Thomas hearing was quite controversial. The lawyer of the accused demanded to prove that songs published by Thomas had been downloaded. The Prosecutor in its turn also argued that the mere fact of sharing is sufficient. Now the accused is very pleased with Davis` solution for the case reconsideration, she also said that now the record companies would have to prove her guilt for real.
