Jive Has Brought A Workgroup Collaboration To Microsoft Office

Jive gave its software for enterprise social-networking which they call their biggest overhaul as yet, which gives the users the ability for the collaboration on Microsoft Office files and also to use the product from the mobile devices that includes an application built especially for the iPhone.

The Social Business Software 4.0 of Jive that the company will be releasing on Tuesday, will come with a new connector, which will allow the users to jointly view, author, annotate as well as edit Word, Excel and the PowerPoint files.

This functionality allows multiple users to simultaneously work on the Office documents from their PCs and have the changes reflected and consolidated too on a single copy of file hosted centrally on social business software server. The above mentioned approach is actually meant to replace the act of having the workgroup members e-mailing Office documents among each other as they are collaborating on them.

In the mean time, the new Mobile module of Jive opens the ability to post the content to the threaded discussion of SBS, blogs, the documents and also the status updates through e-mail using the cell phones such as BlackBerry. Additionally, the module also has a native application of iPhone, which provides a very close user experience to how the SBS will work on desktop, as according to Jive.
