Left 4 Dead 2: The Appeal Of Valve Refused In Australia
25th October 2009
The saga of Left 4 Dead 2 continues in Australia as the news came in through the wearetheinternetz saying that the Australian Classification Board has refused the shooter classification once again. A 3 member panel of this Classification Review Board, or the Review Board, had unanimously found out that the computer game Left 4 Dead 2 is a classified refused classification RC.
In the opinion of the Review Board, the game Left 4 Dead 2 can not be accommodated within the classification of MA 15+. This computer game has a certain level of violence which has its high impact, prolonged; those are repeated frequently and are realistic in the context of this computer game.
Additionally, it was the opinion of the Classification Review Board that there were insufficient and inadequate delineation in the depiction of general figures of the zombie and in the human figures, as it opposed to the clearly infected fictional characters. This was the main consideration of the Review Board in accessing the impacts of this game on minors.
In Australia, such computer games that are classified RC cannot be sold, hired, they can not be advertised or demonstrated too. It is likely that Valve will have to release a toned down version of this game now.
