Making A Transition From Windows XP To Windows 7 Interface
29th October 2009
Whether you have upgraded only the operating system, or have purchased a new computer with the latest Windows 7 OS, the odds are good when you are switching from the Windows XP. The differences between user interface of the two operating systems Windows Vista and Windows 7 can be very few. But the Windows XP users have a little bit more of a learning curve in order to understand new features and also the conventions of newly released operating system Windows 7.
Some functions and capabilities of Windows 7 will be depending wholly on the version of Windows 7 which you are using. Judging it from the systems available from the retailers such as Best Buy, Windows 7 Home Premium edition is the de facto standard for the consumer oriented systems.
The users of Windows XP are used to adding the commonly used programs to Quick Launch toolbar but when you use Windows 7 you will see that Quick Launch toolbar is no longer there. It is replaced with pinning.
Another thing that Windows XP users are familiar with is the use of My Recent Documents. Microsoft expanded and enhanced the My Recent Documents concept in Windows 7. It is expanded as each application has its own Jump List.
Also the Windows XP users are familiar with files and folders. Windows 7 has introduced Libraries to help the users to view and work with the data in one place, even if the data is scattered.
