29th October 2009
The tool Spec Explorer 2010, which is also simply referred to as the Spec Explorer is now available on the site of Microsoft DevLabs as it is said by S. Somasegar who is the senior vice president of Microsoft`s developer division in an evening blog posted on Monday.
Somasegar has said that thorough, consistent, and also the extensible testing of the systems have remained as one of the biggest challenges in the creating and the maintaining too of the software systems. He added that the Spec Explorer tool that has been released on the DevLabs can tackle this problem by using the testing techniques which are model based.
The Spec Explorer models the behavior of the software and then generates the test suites from all such models. These models can also be viewed as the graphical renderings in order to understand the expected behavior of the system. These test suites can either run standalone or in the test framework of Visual Studio or in some other unit test frameworks. The engineers who have no modeling background can also build models with the help of Spec Explorer as according to Somasegar.
Tthe Spec Explorer team`s blog was reported on Tuesday and says that the models which are written in C# and are companied by the configuration files in the scripting language called Coordination Language or Cord.
