Mozilla Has Released A Prototype Messaging Tool Raindrop
26th October 2009
Mozilla has launched a software project which is designed to let the people to better manage the voluminous stream of messages that comes from the social networking sources such as Twitter and Facebook in their e-mails.
Bryan Clark, the design lead for the Mozilla messaging has said that raindrop is no other e-mail client; however Mozilla has described it as a mini Web server, which is installed on a PC. It collects conversations as well as the messages from a variety of sources then intelligently sorts them out.
The major purpose of Raindrop is allowing people to get a clearer view of messages which they are getting and not let the personal messages be obscured in their e-mail boxes among, such as, a morass of Facebook or the notifications of Flickr. The notifications from others like YouTube, blogs and the Really Simple Syndication feeds will also be handled.
Raindrop separates the personal messages intelligently from the bulk messages as said by Clark. The direct messages and also the replies on Twitter are more like an e-mail rather than the other bulk messages sent on Twitter. Raindrop helps to separate these direct messages and replies from the bulk ones. The messages from the mailing lists are listed separately from the personal messages, from those that are from other Web services such as Amazon.com or eBay.
