MySQL Founder quits Sun Microsystems
19th October 2008
David Axmark, one of the founders of MySQL, has declared his retiring from the corporation Sun Microsystems.
He said he hates rules he should follow and also hates breaking them. Therefore the variant of quitting from the company but cooperating with MySQL and Sun on less formal terms is the best variant for him.
Throughout several years he occupied a number of supervising posts in MySQL, he supervised engineering process, was the head of internal IT Department and was also responsible for relationships with MySQL community members. By the way, it was his idea that MySQL began being distributed under open source terms. Resignation of such an expert will be a considerable step back for Sun which gained MySQL for $1 billion in January and hopes to draw attention of new developers to the platform.
