The company Nokia has announced the package Qt Extended 4.4, a full open source platform to develop user interfaces and applications for mobile and embedded devices based on the Linux operating system.
The platform Qt Extended (previously known as Qtopia) consists of 19 separate components, to add specific functionality to created evices (the possibility of exchanging messages,
support of multimedia, etc.). Qt Extended is a cross-platform environment. The developers will be able to create innovative interfaces and deploy them in a wide range of devices without changing the original code.
The new version offers increased opportunities to develop interfaces for touch-screen devices. The package includes a special framework, based on Telepathy technologies designed to
implement support of IP-communications in devices. A new Qt UI Test tool helps to automate the process of testing the interface
on the target device. Qt Extended 4.4 also offers users the design Video IP Desk, meant for developing unique touch-screen IP-videophones.
