OpenOffice.org 3.0: new version of the open source office package

An official release of a new stable version of the popular open-source package, OpenOffice.org 3.0, was held.
3 years have passed since the last major release of OpenOffice.org 2.0. The beta-testing of OpenOffice.org 3.0 started in May. The final release was submitted in the middle of October.
OpenOffice.org 3.0 contains a new center of quickly run of applications within the package, updates savers and icons. The changes have affected various components of OpenOffice.org. Among the most significant in the word processor (Writer) there are emergence of a new control in the scaling, improved language support, an updated notes system in the document, the possibility of editing Wiki-pages as conventional documents.
The application to work with spreadsheets (Calc) has increased the number of columns per table (up to 1024); updated the Solver tool to find the best formula; added the mode of teamwork (“Share”). The vector editor (Draw) improves the tool to crop images (Crop); adds an opportunity to work with large graphics (up to 3 square meters). The application for creating presentations (Impress) now has the full support of tables (without depending on Calc, as it used to be before).
