PC versions sell no worse than console ones
29th October 2008
This month, the organization NPD, specializing in market research, decided to conduct a more thorough analysis of sales of computer games. Specialists noted several projects standing out among their competitors. These are Spore and Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. The former game was sold in the amount of 406 thousand copies, and the latter - 274 thousand copies. The analysts say that the total circulation of these products is even higher than that of games released under consoles. Traditionally it is believed that PC games are sold worse than consoles-versions (because of the high level of piracy, in particular). Apparently, Electronic Arts had decided to break that stereotype.
Spore showed extraordinary sales. In the U.S., it lost only to Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (PS3, PS2, 360, Wii, DS, PSP) and Wii Fit. Warhammer Online, of course, showed more modest results.
