RIM Blackberry Storm: an iPhone killer?

Any new smartphone with a large touch screen, a variety of options and a good Internet connection is immediately positioned as an iPhone-killer. But so far none of them has managed to get any closer to the legendary Apple device by copies sold. Perhaps, the new smartphone from RIM will try? The other day, the company Research In Motion, controlling nearly one-fifth of the world market of smartphones, officially announced BlackBerry Storm, a smartphone, which exactly corresponds to its name, and has already managed to make a lot of noise in many specialized online forums. It is interesting, that the device is the first smartphone from RIM, equipped with the touch screen.
The manufacturer point out that the main Â«zestÂ» of BlackBerry Storm has the world's first display of the type Â«clickableÂ», simulating the hardware keyboard, as well as supporting the management of single finger-pressings.
Built-in accelerometer, a must-have of such devices, allows changing the screen image depending on the orientation of the phone in space. In the Â«landscapeÂ» position the user sees the keyboard QWERTY, and in the Â«portraitÂ» one - the TrueType keyboard.
No less attention was paid to a built-in Internet browser working in the Â«portraitÂ» or Â«landscapeÂ» modes, and scrolling pages by means of a lite sliding motion of the finger across the screen. It can also scale pages with the dual click.
The USA the device will be distributed by the operator Verizon Wireless under the name BlackBerry Storm 9530 (3G EV-DO Rev. A/CDMA, UMTS/HSPA, GSM/EDGE), and in Europe, India, Australia and New Zealand: by the operator Vodafone under the name BlackBerry Storm 9500 ( UMTS/HSPA, GSM/EDGE).
