Gregory William Fair was sentenced this Thursday on October 22, 2009 in the U.S. District Court for District of Columbia. Along with the prison term sentenced to the man, the Judge R.W. Roberts also ordered Fair to pay an amount of US$743,098 in restitution.

Fair has now forfeited $144,000 seized from some safety deposit box and the residence, a BMW 525i, an Hummer H2, a Mercedes CL600 and also a 1969 Pontiac GTO. All of these cars were purchased by him by using the funds from the counterfeit software operation as said by the DOJ. He also said that Fair showed guilty on April 16 to the count of criminal copyright infringement and also to the count of mail fraud for the sale of pirated business software. The software that Fair sold between the years 2001 and 2007 have had a combined retail worth of more than $1 million.

During his plea, Fair told that he has used a variety of the eBay user IDs to sell out the counterfeit software.
