USA government approves creating National Free Wireless Network
29th October 2008
Very soon the free wireless Internet in America can become a reality.
The company M2Z (which has received permission to use a promising part of the radio frequency spectrum ranging from 2155 to 2175 megahertz, or AWS-3, from the American Federal Communications Commission) has promised to provide broadband Internet access to 95 % of the population for over 10 years.
Major U.S. telecommunications companies have opposed the opening of these frequencies for wireless Internet. In particular, one of this opponents is a telecommunications giant, the company T-Mobile. They presented the results of tests, showing that using AWS-3 would interfere with of mobile phones working in the frequencies of 2110-2155 MHz (AWS-1).
But the commission released a report that describes the test, displaying no significant risks of interference. Thus, it is ready to give this part of the spectrum.
It is worth while noting that representatives of the American Federal Communications Commission insist on promoting developments of free access to the Internet, reports France Press.
