According To Microsoft, Worms Are Infesting The Computers Worldwide
6th November 2009
Microsoft has released a security report on Monday that warns people about the cyber crooks who are digging into the computers in a look for the weak spots in order to penetrate with the worms, which are the malicious software and steal the control or the data too.
Rogue security software has remained as the top hacker threat for the computers in the first half of the year, but number of infections continued to drop while the penetrations by the worms were doubled as according to the report of Security Intelligence.
Jeff Williams who is the principal architect at the Microsoft Malware Protection Center has told AFP that they are still seeing the rogue security software in high volume but are not on the rise. He said that the thing which is on the rise is the resurgence of the worm activity, and is particularly the worms like Conficker and Taterf.
The worms are so programmed as to replicate themselves, by wriggling from one machine to the other machine and also by hiding inside the legitimate applications or piggy-backing on the USB drives or some other portable devices used for data storage.
The rogue security software, or typically called the scareware, usually spreads by tricking the people with some pop-up boxes that bear some bogus alerts of the users machines being infected.
