24th November 2009
AT&T is thinking about moving its cloud portfolio upwards as it has announced of its working with Sun and VMware in order to develop the cloud coputing services of its own.
The Synaptic compute service of AT&T has its objectives to provide scalable and on demand capacity of computing to its users like any other cloud computing offers. This will allow them to increase or decrease that would totally be dependent upon their own immediate needs and this will prevent them from heavily investing in on-site infrastructure. The main characteristics of this service are managing the service capacity, ordering done by web portal, 24 hours monitoring and management of the network by the support staff of AT&T, and also the disk capacity for each operating system of the virtual system.
This service makes use of the virtualization platform called vSphere of VMware and also the vCloud API in order to support the AT&T connect. It also integrates and combines the cloud of its own to the public web. It has also been stated by AT&T that the hardware, software and also the reference architecture of Sun Microsystems have also been used by them. They are using it in order to make such an environment that would make it easier to build and also deploy the value added services by the developers.
