Boost To The Spin Based Electronics
30th November 2009
It is being expected that the computers of next generation will be using spin of electrons and will not be using their charge. The manipulation of spins will help Spintronics and in this way the data will be carried. This technique has already been showed to the professionals, but at fairly low temperatures. This is for the first time, when the researchers have made the use of 'spin-polarized' electrons in silicon, at room temperature.
It would be very beneficial in terms of allowing the computers to work by consuming fairly less power, as compared to the conventional ones. It would be a great achievement of the researchers. The teams of professional and trained researchers are striving hard to manufacture these computers at commercial scale.
Right now, the problem with silicon is that the chips get smaller and smaller in size and it results in high power consumption, on which researchers are working and are trying to find a solution, which will result in the computers that will consume less power.
Researchers have said that high power consumption will result in a number of problems, as the system would be heated up. They do not want to see this issue of rise in power.
