The revenue for this quarter had ended on Oct. 24, which was the first of the fiscal year of Cisco, was an amount of $9 billion, as compared to $8.74 billion as was expected by the financial analysts as according to one poll by Thomson Reuters.

Similarly, the earnings per share for this quarter came to be $0.05 better than what was expected, at an amount of $0.36. This non-GAAP figure has excluded the expenses, charges and all of the other one-time items.

The sales in this quarter went down 12.7 percent from the previous year. These non-GAAP earnings per share also went down, by 14.3 percent. On the sequential basis, the revenue went up by 6 percent from fourth quarter, whereas the earnings per share went up by 16 percent.

Cisco`s CEO John Chambers has said in one statement that their first quarter results continually reflects the trends of strong sequential growth which meets or have exceeded their expectations during the normal economic times. He also said that they view the improving economic outlook, which is combined with the solid execution on their growth strategy, which is creating unparalleled opportunity for driving more value to core of the network. Simply, they believed that the key market transitions across the collaboration, virtualization and also the video will be driving productivity and growth in the network loads for next decade, and will be evolving even faster than what is expected.
