Cloud Computing Could Save Money By Eliminating The U.S. Jobs As Said By Unisys Official
6th November 2009
The cost savings generated with the replacement of U.S. workers with the IT persons brought from India was taken as a benefit of the private cloud computing by one Unisys official at one technical conference.
Richard Marcello who is the president of technology, consulting, and the integration solutions at Unisys while speaking at Cloud Computing Conference & Expo held in Santa Clara, Calif., presented what he was viewing as myths and the truths about the cloud computing, talking about both of the privately deployed clouds as well as the public clouds. While covering the so called myth of private clouds having no benefits over virtualization process, Marcello has said that Unisys has deployed one private cloud internally and has also cut provisioning times from 10 days down to five minutes of manual provisioning time. He said that they were being able to eliminate the whole bunch of U.S. based jobs and have replaced them with two people out from India to serve the 1,200 person engineering organization.
The loss of IT jobs by the U.S. workers had been one hot button issue. When interviewed after the presentation he gave, Marcello said that cloud computing should be approached from the company`s perspective and if the people do not embrace the cloud computing, he does not think that the companies will be there in 5 to 10 years of time. He asked the people to take the broader and holistic view.
