ESET NOD32: fastest antivirus in the AV-Comparatives performance testing

ESET NOD32 Antivirus got the status of Advanced + in the performance testing of antivirus products held by AV-Comparatives (www.av-comparatives.org).
The Austrian laboratory AV-Comparatives traditionally holds several comparative tests of antivirus solutions: retrospective tests (Retrospective / ProActive Test), to assess the ability of products from various manufacturers to confront unknown threats through proactive protection technologies, as well as studying the overall level of detecting malware, On-demand comparative. Now these tests were added with a comparative antivirus software Perfomance test, first held in October 2008.
The results and methodology of the first study were published in November. Anti-virus products from different vendors were tested on the platform of Windows XP Professional SP3. They measured the speed of performing various actions (copying files, archives, work with documents, media files, booting OS) on computers with no antivirus, with anti-virus software with default settings and with maximum settings. The testing involved 16 worldâ€™s leading manufacturers of anti-virus solutions.
ESET NOD32 Antivirus version 3.0 showed minimal slowdown of the system when copying files (31% compared to the clean system), when encoding media files (3%), while booting (12%). This allowed AV-Comparatives to give the ESET product the status of â€œvery fastâ€.
This product occupied the first position, leaving behind such solutions as Symantec and Kaspersky antivirus.
