European Commission Criticized Oracle`s Take Over
17th November 2009
The European commission has objected the criticism over the idea of issuing any of the formal objections over the take over of Oracle on Sun Microsystems.
The commission, on Monday, gave one statement to both Oracle and Sun Microsystems, in which it has objected this take over, saying it will be making Oracle as the only company which would be cornering the market of database software. Oracle will be taking up all of the database market after this merger. It also said that Oracle, in the database market, is already going forward and is supposed to be the largest player. It is really ahead of its rivals too which are IBM and Microsoft. The commission objected that after this take over, Oracle will also get the MySQL of Sun Microsystems. MySQL is an open source database tool. With this merger Oracle will be stealing up the whole market share from all three companies.
The spokesman of the company named Jonathan Todd has said that although MySQL is an open source database tool, the copyright of this tool`s code will be with Oracle, and this would make it difficult for the competitors of the company to do what they wish to do with the code. He said that Oracle is a leading database vendor and MySQL too, is a leading open source vendor, and with their merger there will be no room left for the other three companies.
