Facebook De-Friends Application Verification Program Is A Part Of Road Map Of The Upcoming Changes
6th November 2009
Facebook abruptly has decided to pull off the plug towards its Application Verification program which allows the external developers to pay to have the applications certified as the exceeding certain requirements.
The company has made this announcement on Wednesday, as it has unveiled a road map of the upcoming changes for its application development platform.
A Facebook official named Ethan Beard has written in a blog post that they are retiring the previously used optional Application Verification brand, the submission process, fees and badge; and the higher standards of the program will be required and the applications will be subjected to review at any part of time.
David Stillwell, who is pursuing PhD in U.K, whose My Personality application was verified, expected that the closing of this program will be reducing the visibility of the application.
Although Stillwell did not get any advance notice from Facebook, this decision did not surprise him up as he felt that the company did never get enthusiastically behind this program. Stillwell said in an email that Facebook has not done a very good job of the promotion of the program and the users were not knowing anything about it, so he understands that why the company has decided to remove it off.
