Flock 1.0: a new generation browser
15th November 2007
A new version of the free browser Flock has been released. Being based on Firefox, the program is positioned as a "browser for communication" and is different from competitive products by the large number of options related to Internet-communication. Its creator, who had previously participated in the development of Mozilla, said that browsers have changed, but just a little since the past ten years, while the needs of users have changed very much. Firefox, he said, though more reliable and more convenient than IE, but is still far from ideal.
Therefore Flock includes not only the possibility of safe surfing, but also the ability to read RSS- news, a tool for the exchange of files between users, a convenient means of managing the blog, access to online-resource del.icio.us for the exchange of links, and service Flickr for sharing photos. Another interesting option of the program is an instant emergence of information in a users` blog, selected by this user on another web-page.
This version introduces the pad People, which gathers all contacts of the user from various sites: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.
