Intel and Microsoft are charged for conspiracy around Vista
25th November 2008
The big trial is going on in the USA. A group of consumers accuses the two largest companies of the trivial conspiracy to sell products knowing to be unable to fulfill the stated functions. It was the Intel 915 chipset that became the last straw for its failing to support the drivers of the Windows graphics subsystem.
Before Vista went on sale, Microsoft had organized a campaign «Vista Capable» dedicated to marking components and finished computers by means of special seals to guarantee the work of Vista under the sold equipment.
Intel knew from the very beginning that their widespread and modern (to that moment) Intel 915 chipset would not be able to fully support the operational interface Aero, which for many was the main reason for switching to Vista. Nevertheless, Intel and Microsoft at the highest level agreed that products in this chipset, too, must be marked «Vista Capable». Now, that frustrated consumers learnt that the infamous chipset enables you to run only severely reduced version of Vista called Vista Basic, they demand punishment for Microsoft and Intel for fraud.
As the correspondence between the leaders of Microsoft and Intel runs, the honest information would have cost them millions, nay, even billiards of dollars!
At the moment, nothing has been decided on this no less than a scandalous case.
