Intel Making 2.3 Ghz Wimax Support
17th November 2009
After about one year wait by the operators as well as the users, Intel has now started the production of the wireless chipset it is going to make, named Kilmer Peak, which would be supporting three of the versions of the WiMax which are 2.3 GHz, 2.5 GHz as well as the version 3.5 GHz. The WiMax chipsets of Intel at present only have a support for the 2.5GHz version WiMax. This version has been working in the markets of Japan, United States and Taiwan. This company does not provide support for the 2.3GHz version yet, as this version is used in the markets of South Korea and Malaysia or also the version of 3.5GHz used in Pakistan. All these versions and limitations would be changing with the arrival of Kilmer Peak.
The spokesman of Intel, named Barry Sum, in an email has written that Kilmer peak is in its production process now. They will soon be launching it with the Calpella Arrandale. Calpella Arrandale is a notebook platform solution. The launch of Kilmer Peak is expected to be in the first quarter of the year 2010. He further added that all three of the WiMax profiles will be supported by the long awaited chipset. It is better if you check with OEMs after it has been lauched if you want to know about Kilmer peak`s release.
