MiFi is now going to the enterprises. Ipass has said that it will start reselling the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2200, which is a mobile broadband device in December, and is used, by the consumers but it will also be preconfigured with the customer specific security as well as the connections to the software of iPassConnect mobility manager for the business users.
The actual device of MiFi would be free for a period of a 2 year service commitment, or $99 for a 1 year commitment, on top of a fee of 1 time $50 configuration per device and for the iPassConnect service too. This particular service runs at $45 to $60 for a month per user in U.S. and will give 3G WAN wireless broadband access and easy Wi-Fi connections globally to about 160,000 hot spots as said by Rick Bilodeau, the vice president of the product and offer marketing at iPass.
Bilodeau also said in one interview that IPass was launched in the year 1996, and is already being used by almost 400 of the largest companies of the world whose workers find the wireless WAN and also the Wi-Fi access from their laptops using the broadband cards as they are traveling from one country to another. With the iPassConnect, IT shops of each of the company also get one single console where they can easily manage potentially thousands of their users.
