Lotus Symphony 2009 now supports Mac OS

The company IBM has introduced a new version of its set of office programs to create text documents, spreadsheets, charts and presentations, called Lotus Symphony 2009.
Lotus Symphony 2009 is a free integration solution that helps to conveniently apply to various office tools, familiar by the system OpenOffice. The most important difference of the version of 2009, of course, is its shift to the platform OpenOffice 3.0, the components of which are the basis for all tools available to the user of Lotus Symphony 2009.
Thanks to its being based on the OpenOffice 3.0 code, the new Lotus Symphony now supports 28 world languages, is fully compatible with Microsoft Office 2007 file formats and also allows performing macros in the language Visual Basic.
The package Lotus Symphony 2009 was introduced to the public by Michael Karasick, the director of the Chinese lab IBM Lotus China Development Labs. According to him, since the emergence of the first version of Lotus Symphony, the package has been downloaded by more than 3 million users. Karasick also reported that the release the beta version of Lotus Symphony for Mac OS X is meant to meet the demanding requests of many partners, using office Lotus Symphony package in their solutions. In addition, there is also a special beta of Lotus Symphony released for the popular distributive Ubuntu Linux, created by the company Canonical, belonging to the South African millionaire Mark Shuttleworth.
