Opera will "live" in BIOS
10th November 2008
Recently, there have been many rumours about the Instant On solutions.
At the moment, the main players at this market are the two systems: Splashtop from Asus and HyperSpace, created by Phoenix, the well-known BIOS manufacturer for motherboards. Instant On systems of the type Phoenix HyperSpace are usually an operating system based on Linux, optimized for work with a fixed composition of the equipment. For such systems do not need to check the equipment and carry out a full download, just in 5-15 seconds after switching on the user can gain access to such basic functions as connecting to wireless networks, browsing Web pages, IP-telephony, etc.
Recently, the company Phoenix Technologies has announced signing the strategic agreement with Opera Software. Now the Phoenix HyperSpace environment will use the browser Opera, known for his speed and a high level of compliance with the Internet standards. Opera manufacturers, in their turn, are to continue optimizing their browser to work under Phoenix HyperSpace environment.
