Oracle Is Ready For Fight With The EU Over Takeover Of Sun
9th November 2009
Oracle is now planning for an aggressive fight with the European regulators if the attempt of it to take over the Sun is slapped by one statement of objections during the coming week as said on Wednesday by those people who are close to the company.
Some unsourced news have reported that the statement of objections is actually imminent surfaced earlier Wednesday. European Commission has also declined to comment on these reports, but has confirmed that if any such step was to be taken then it would have to be taken soon, for the purpose of allowing ample time for the procedures leading up to the date of Jan. 19 which is a deadline for a ruling.
A person who is familiar with the thinking of Oracle and who insisted on his anonymity has said that the ball game would be changing dramatically if this Commission issues the statement of objections. He also added that Oracle has always been holding back till now, and on a contrary to what the Commission is saying, it has been addressing the substance of the concerns of the Commission about their deal in huge abundance.
When the Commission was opened, an in depth probe of the deal of Oracle Sun at the start of September, it has said that it was mainly concerned about the impact of this deal on the market for software which runs the corporate databases.
