10th November 2008
The final version of Mozilla Songbird, a cross-platform media player with open source is coming up.
This week the development team has announced the availability of the first pre-release version of Songbird 1.0.
The most significant improvement provided in Songbird 1.0 RC1 is the support of the framework GStreamer, which is used to process played multimedia materials. This innovation concerns Windows-, Mac-and Linux-versions of the application. Users will also be able to appreciate a significant increase in the product`s performance, including that of tools for importing files.
Here are some other improvements implemented in Songbird 1.0 RC1:
Support of «drag and drop» when adding an album cover to musical composition.
The new keyboard combinations for more convenient navigation.
Faster downloading the application.
Improved tools of scrolling large libraries.
The pre-release version also differs from the ordinary beta by its greater stability, despite the fact that the developers have not yet been able to eliminate all drawbacks.
