Swedish gamer reached the "level of nervous fit" after 24-hour non-stop playing the famous strategy
27th November 2008
An underage gamer from Sweden had a real nervous fit after 24 hours of non-stop playing World of Warcraft. The father of the teenager said that his 15-year-old son and six of his friends played more than 24 hours, having their meals directly at their computers.
The fit, mistaken for an epilepsy attack first, occurred straight at the computer. Ambulance doctors, arrived in a few minutes, made a more accurate diagnosis. In their point of view, the real cause of the fit was physical and nervous exhaustion of the body caused by somnipathy, malnutrition and long concentration of perception.
It is worth while mentioning that the release of the addon to WoW called Wrath of the Lich King caused an unprecedented boom among young gamers all over the world. Dr. Richard Graham, a child psychiatrist from Tavistock Centre, believes that the popular online RPG can be by all means considered a harmful habit. Many of his patients spend 14-16 hours playing the game, sleeplessly and with no meals. Of course, in such cases we can talk about a kind of addiction, says the doctor.
Currently, the Swedish teenager is quite well, but the boy`s parents claim that in the future they are no to allow such a lengthy gaming sessions.
